SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA QUAKE HIGHLIGHTS THE NEED FOR
PREPAREDNESS
San Marcos, CA – (October 16, 1999) – Today’s
earthquake in Southern California has served as a timely wake up call for San
Diego and has highlighted the need for preparedness.
Trevco, America’s largest manufacturer of earthquake
products, has built its business on preparedness.
The company moved its headquarters from their original location over the San Andreas Fault in Los Angeles to San Marcos earlier this year. The move was made in the hope of getting further away from earthquakes.
“Living in LA I lived through Sylmar, Whittier
Narrows and Northridge so when the earthquake rolled in the early hours of this
morning I felt that same helplessness of the past. When it happens you think of
your own survival,” says Trevco president Dran Reese.
When an earthquake strikes it’s the big-ticket items in a home that can potentially cause the most damage and being prepared is easy and surprisingly cost effective.
Trevco markets a range of Quakehold! straps
for large furniture items such as televisions, computers and china cabinets, as
well as temporary adhesives for securing breakables.
“We also supply other earthquake products such as Automatic Gas Shut-off Valves, Safety Lightsticks and Survival Kits that are all designed to be used in the event of emergencies and natural disasters.
“For as
little as $50 you can secure the contents of your entire home including furniture,
electronics and collectibles,” adds Ms Reese.
The full range of Quakehold! products are
available through Linens ‘N Things stores throughout San Diego, while the
adhesives for securing collectibles are stocked by Bed Bath & Beyond
outlets.
Attn Editors: We are available for immediate interviews or
visitation to our facilities in San Marcos for earthquake demonstrations.
